Langport Area Business Group

Langport Area Business Group was formed by our local community in Quest to Drive and Promote local businesses.

A group of local traders and businesses have joined forces to revive and relaunch a business group for Langport and its surrounding areas, with a desire to support and promote sustainable local trade. With a wealth of independent and well established local businesses that are innovative, professional and capable in the area, the Langport Area Business Group (LABG) will:

- Encourage and promote sustainable trade in the town of Langport and surrounding areas,

- Support Traders and Businesses in Langport, Wearne, Drayton, Thorney, Muchelney Ham, Muchelney, Pibsbury, Huish Episcopi, Wick, Aller, Low Ham, High Ham and Pitney,

- Strengthen business links within the area and exchange relevant information,

- Represent the local business community, with a united voice.

Working together as a team should encourage new footfall into the area and promote the diversity that Langport and the surrounding villages have to offer. Making a sustainable local economy with increased tourism, additional jobs and raising awareness of all possibilities for new business will be an excellent step forward in our current economy. The LABG is an opportunity for local business people to collectively raise their profile by meeting and working with others within this vibrant community.

Rupert Cox, Chief Executive, Somerset Chamber of Commerce commented “I am delighted that the business community of Langport and the surrounding area has come together to form a business group. The Somerset Chamber will do all it can to help the group set up and succeed as we believe it is vital that businesses are influential within their area so that the economic environment is good for business and good for the local economy.”

Benefits of the LABG could include leaflets, website, information dissemination/alerts, business voice, regular newsletter, town clean up, 10% days off promotions and general publicity drives.

Langport Town Council Chairman Chris Osborne said that “The Council is pleased to see the local business community taking an active interest in the wellbeing of their businesses and the town and will support it wholeheartedly. We wish them every success with this venture.”

An active committee has already been formed and is welcoming further local input and views. Businesses interested in becoming a member and getting involved should contact Andrea Pyle, LABG Secretary via email: labginfo@gmail.com or Clare Aparicio on: 07879 423117.
