1. Matters Arising from Minutes

The Transport Grouphad met on 3rd January and Transition Langport was briefed on the discussions. Future developments could include water-links, car shares, electro/bio transport and cycle paths. The need to access the 2007 transport/Sustrans feasibility study was also discussed. It was suggested that details may be obtainable from Caroline Jones of SSDC.

Ridgway Hall– Cara was investigating Air Source Heat pumps. It was also noted that there may be the opportunity for some tree maintenance and removal and/or replacement in this area.

2. Bag It: The Movie screening

The group discussed the success of the recent screening of Bag It with the introduction by Chris and post-screening discussion with members of the audience. Stephen and Chris in particular were thanked for their help with this event .

A lengthy discussion followed covering many points and it was AGREED that:

  • a survey on carrier bag use be held in Langport/Huish Episcopi on 25th January 2013; the survey to be based on the Marine Conservation Society guidance
  • further screenings of Bag It: The Movie be held on 15th February 2013 (TBC) and at other venues
  • Stephen further develop links with the Tesco manager and the Business Group
  • A Working Group be set up to develop this project including looking at paper foam..

3.BTCV Insurance

The group approved the payment of insurance for the following year of £200.

5. Changing Meeting Date Proposal

Norma suggested the dates of the meetings be changed to allow those members who were councillors to attend more easily their civic meetings. However, as the clash happened only once or twice it was AGREED to keep the same date but it was reiterated that meetings should start at 7.30 prompt.

6. Crane Champions

In response to a suggestion by Caroline, the group AGREED to become Crane Champions as part of the RSPB Crane Project. It was suggested that Derek/Derrick would be a good name for a crane!

7. Dog ‘poo’.

Val led a discussion on changing behaviour in particular relating to dog fouling and the use of plastic bags being used/left. The merits of ‘stick and flick’ to dispose of dog waste was also discussed. Val had contacted SSDC about this matter. 

8.Changing Behaviour

It was AGREED to place ‘changing behaviour’ on the agenda for the next meeting (although Val would be absent).

9. Chair of next meeting

It was AGREED that Lyn G chair the next meeting.
